Lara's Back!
Hey all! So I just started playing the new Tomb Raider, (thanks for the birthday gift Mom!). Anyway, all I can say is, Wow! This game has some amazing graphics, the lighting is amazing, character models are so life like, and the expansive environments are breathtaking. Now if you've played any of the Tomb Raiders, or seen any of the movies (I'm so sorry for you if you did), then you probably remember Lara Croft as the fearless, take no crap from anybody Tomb Raider, but did you ever wonder what she was like in the beginning of her career? Well then, pop this game in and find out how Lara became the way she is today.
Young Lara Croft |
So in this game, Lara is still young and new to the archaeology game. Now, I'm not very far in the game yet, but the parts that I've played have shown how Lara has not always been the tough rugged woman she has been in previous games. In this Tomb Raider, you see Lara how she was on her first adventure when things start to go wrong. They make her seem almost human, like us. Not the treasure hunting robot with little emotion, but you can actually see how scared she really is. Her lips trembling from the fear and the cold, her every wound a painful experience that never just disappears like most games. Her wounds from the beginning of the game are still on her later on in the story. Some she bandages, some she just lives with, and some are on the inside.
Ouch! |
I'd be scared too! |
So that's it for now. I still have a ways to go in this game, but to summarize what I've experienced so far, fear, excitement, anticipation. These are just a few of the feelings that I can think of. The graphics, outstanding. The sound, amazing. I mean, playing with surround sound when you are in a cave. The music, and the sound of dripping water from the roof of the cave mixed with the sound of a storm outside are just fantastic. And last but not least, the controls are fluid and easy to learn. I have not hit any glitches in this game yet, and hopefully I won't find any anytime soon. So if you have the time and the money, I suggest you go get this game and experience the beginning of Lara Crofts journey. Keep on gaming Gamers!
